Inviting teammates
A join code lets someone new onto your team. Anyone on the team can make one, from the board or by asking an assistant.
From the board
Open your team's board signed in and choose the Invites tab. It is shown only to a signed-in member of the team, and never on a demo board. The page has a form for a label, a number of uses and an expiry, set to the defaults and limited to what your role allows. It also lists the team's invites with their uses, expiry and state.
After you create one, the code is shown once, in a panel with a copy button. Copy it then: reloading the page does not show it again, and the board keeps no copy.
By asking your assistant
Say something like make a metiche invite for Ana. The assistant calls create_invite, optionally with a label, max_uses and expires_in_hours, and shows you the code.
Defaults and limits
| Uses | Expires after | |
|---|---|---|
| Default | 1 | 7 days |
| Most a team owner can set | 100 | 30 days |
| Most a member can set | 25 | 7 days |
The board and the assistant tools run the same rules. Each account can create 30 invites an hour, and that one budget is shared between both.
The code is shown once
- It appears only in the response that created it: the board's one-time panel, or the assistant's
create_inviteanswer. list_invitesand the Invites list never show codes.- Retrying a
create_invitewith the sameidempotency_keyreturns the same invite without its code. - Lost it? Revoke that invite and make a new one.
Revoking
Use the Revoke button on the Invites tab, or ask your assistant, which calls revoke_invite with the invite's invite_id. Nobody new can join with that code afterwards. People who already joined with it keep their access, and revoking an invite twice changes nothing.
A team's owner sees and can revoke every invite. A member sees and can revoke only the invites they created. An invite is active, expired, exhausted (its uses are spent) or revoked.
How the teammate joins
Send the code privately, the way you would send a password. Your teammate runs the installer, chooses join and pastes it:
curl -fsSL https://metiche.xyz/install.sh | sh
The prompt does not echo the code. Without a terminal, they set METICHE_JOIN_CODE instead, as shown on Getting started. Their installer configures their own assistants, each with its own token.
It is redeemed once, by the installer. What your assistants keep is a token the server mints for each of them. Never put a join code in a repository, a commit, an issue, a pull request or a public channel.
